Beach Wedding
North Cyprus’ coastlines offer miles of quiet coves, tranquil bays and sandy beaches meaning that a fairy-tale celebration by the sea can become a reality for you. There is a fantastic array of choice when it comes to beach events, including private beach-front ceremonies and beach-front resorts.

Can we travel under our married names?
You can travel under any name providing it’s the name on your current passport. Please make sure that your passport has at least six months validity before departing the UK for North Cyprus.
How should I pack my wedding dress for travel?
You can purchase special dress travelling boxes from wedding websites and magazines. Also check if your chosen airline has any special facilities for wedding dresses, as some do.
What happens when we arrive in North Cyprus?
Check in at your hotel as normal. Our Wedding Planner, who will have made arrangements to meet you prior to your departure from the UK, will meet you very soon after your arrival, probably within the first two days.
Who will marry us?
If you are having a church wedding it will be the licenced Chaplain, whereas if you are having a civil wedding it will be an officer from the district office (the Kaymakam office).
How long will the ceremony be?
If you are having a church wedding, it will be approximately 40-50 minutes. If you are having a civil wedding it will be in the region of 5-8 minutes. After your civil wedding we strongly recommend that you have a wedding blessing or exchange of vows following the ceremony.
Do you have specialist wedding insurance?
Wedding insurance can be purchased from wedding insurance specialists who advertise online and in wedding magazines. Don’t forget to purchase regular travel insurance as well!

What’s local life like?
As Mediterranean hospitality is renowned worldwide you can expect a warm and friendly welcome in North Cyprus. Locals tend to be laid back and things can often take a little longer then we’re used to. During the summer season it’s not unusual to see locals taking their midday siesta, while in the main resorts some shops may close between 1pm and 3pm and then stay open until late giving everyone the chance to relax on a hot summer afternoon. Banks and government offices are shut on public holidays and you may find that other services are limited on these days. Important note about duty-free purchases:
Passengers travelling from Ercan in North Cyprus on flights involving an aircraft change in Istanbul should refrain from duty-free liquid purchases at Ercan as they are liable to be confiscated in Istanbul. We suggest that duty-free purchases are made in Istanbul.
What’s the weather like?
Summers are hot and warm in North Cyprus and it is almost completely rainless from May to about mid-November, with the weather being consistent on a day to day basis with very little cloud cover. During the winter bad weather rarely lasts more than a day. The average daily hours of sunshine ranges from six hours
midwinter to 12 or 13 in midsummer. For those who find high temperatures unpleasant the best time to visit North Cyprus is in the spring when it’s generally sunny and warm and the island is full of flowers.
Money
The local currency in North Cyprus is the Turkish Lira. Sterling and Euros can be exchanged or are accepted in most establishments although banks and exchange bureaus may give a more favourable rate. Credit cards are widely used in all the resorts that we offer, alternatively cash machines can be found in town centres
for cash withdrawals in the local currency direct from your bank account. Scottish and Irish bank notes are NOT accepted in North Cyprus.
What happens when I arrive at my destination?
Upon your arrival at your destination airport you will be met by our transfer representatives who will drive you to your hotel, so please look out for the Green Island Holidays sign or your name(s) on a board. Your representative will advise you one day before your departure about the pick-up time for the return journey.
When will I get my travel documents?
We will send your booking confirmation/invoice confirming all your travel details within 48 hours of your reservation being made. Travel documents are sent out within 10 days of departure. Please check that the names and details are correct on all your documents as failure to do so can incur charges, as well as refusal for boarding at the aircraft. Health & EHIC card
At the time of going to press no compulsory vaccinations are required for North Cyprus. Medical regulations are updated from time to time, so we advise you to consult your doctor before departure in case the Department of Health considers any inoculations necessary. As a UK resident you can apply for an EHIC card
(formerly known as an E111) entitling you to some medical treatment at certain hospitals at a reduced or no cost when temporarily visiting an EU country. You can apply for a card free of charge via www.ehic.org.uk or by calling 0845 606 2030. An application form is also available from the Post Office. It is of course essential that you take out comprehensive travel insurance to cover you for any medical emergencies.
What’s driving like in North Cyprus and Turkey?
Driving in North Cyprus is a pleasure: cars drive on the left, traffic is very light and in some cases non-existent and parking is not restricted. As the cost of hiring a car is very reasonable we recommended this option as public transport does not tend to be reliable. A UK driving licence is sufficient to use a car.
